Top 5: Chinese cuisine

In our Top 5 section, we share good restaurants of various cuisines of the world. This time, together with Alina Dzhamalov, the author of the Kurnai Paw telegram channel, we are talking about the best Chinese places in the city.

Despite the distance from the center, the restaurant with a bright entrance in the style of a Chinese temple is never empty. Huang He is well known among expats, and in the olden days, excursions for Chinese tourists often stopped here for lunch.

The fact is that this is a long-lived restaurant – it has been operating for the second ten years and has kept the same menu and excellent quality of dishes for the same amount of time.

Here they serve the best squirrel carp in the city in sweet and sour sauce (2350 rubles) – not overdried, but not sinking in the sauce, fish without a single bone. Longboat chicken (880 rubles) will be just as excellent – tender pieces of poultry that are wrapped in sauce with a pleasant.

not too pronounced spiciness. Crispy eggplants with tomatoes (760 rubles) were especially successful among vegetables – despite the simple name, this dish is difficult to cook perfectly: so that the eggplants are fried to the center and the batter does not absorb a vat of oil. Desserts should not be bypassed either, we recommend choosing fruits in caramel (690 rubles) or pumpkin donuts (590 rubles) made from rice flour with sesame seeds, pumpkin and condensed milk.

In “Huang He” you should definitely both visit yourself and take your friends there for a hearty dinner. Recently, the restaurant also has a Korean menu – if you communicate with fans of Korean culture, do not forget to invite them too.

One of the most popular Chinese restaurants in the city is often missed – many choose the neighboring trading house of the same name with authentic bubble tea and Lanzhou-style ramen at the food court. However, one should not forget about one of the veterans of Chinese cuisine: Druzhba has been successfully operating for more than ten years.

About a year ago, the restaurant was unexpectedly, but not for long, closed – the space was renovated, the team changed, and the menu was completely redesigned. If earlier only dishes of Northern China were prepared here, then after the transformation they decided to cover the cuisines of all regions.

You can still try old recipes, for this you should look into the Old Sichuan restaurant – here there is an authentic interior in yellow-gold and red colors and an old stable team of chefs. “Old Sichuan” should be visited by at least four, and even six of them is better: there are too many worthy dishes that need to be tried – for example, fried planed pork with fish sauce (800 rubles), which the cooks of the new “Friendship” cannot repeat.

There are now more than a hundred items on the Friendship menu, but such a variety is deceptive – many combinations of ingredients are repeated by adding different sauces. To make it easier to make a choice, decide on the criteria – if you want a dish without pepper.

take lamb shavings with leeks (1045 rubles) or Peking pork with sheet tofu (770 rubles) – this is an analogue of the famous Peking duck. Fried eggplants with tofu roll (880 rubles) are perfect for vegetarians, and pork offal with chili peppers (880 rubles) or Sichuan beef (1155 rubles) are perfect for spicy lovers. The meat will be served in a huge bowl filled with a sauce that burns receptors.

Hogo broth should also be tried in Druzhba. For a company of four people, this will be a fairly budget option for a rich dinner – for a medium hogo with two broths, seafood and meat, pay about 5,000 rubles.

and there will be scallops, beef, and tofu on the table. And if you find yourself in this institution alone, sit down for an unlimited tape. You will be served a bowler hat, and then you will have to grab the saucers flashing before your eyes. They can contain anything from shrimp to frozen pig blood.

A small Xinjiang cuisine cafe hid in the courtyards of a residential complex near the Universitet metro station. Despite not the most advantageous location, there are always a lot of people in the room, and sometimes all the tables are occupied. Following the choice of neighbors, you can see that the most popular dishes here are noodles and marbled eggs.

Xinjiang, or Uighur, cuisine is considered to be everything related to noodles and pastries, but the menu here is quite diverse: there are snacks, hot dishes, and rice. The portions are large, but still designed for one. First of all, you should try boiled noodles with beef and green onions (450 rubles) and Chinese dumplings with beef or chicken (350 rubles) – they are definitely one of the best in the city here – the dough is very thin.

and the filling is so juicy that the juice shoots if you accidentally pierce the product with a stick. For hot dishes, you should take several snacks: potato straws (150 rubles) from a half-baked tuber in oil with hot pepper and tea eggs (100 rubles), which are boiled in tea with spices and served as an addition to dinner. For dessert, there are Chinese donuts (300 rubles). These are crispy inside and viscous outside balls of rice dough with sesame seeds.

There are a lot of good Chinese eateries in the area of Lomonosovsky Prospect. This is not surprising: the Chinese embassy is located here, and the main guests of restaurants nearby are Chinese. Last summer, we walked around the authentic cafes in the area and made a guide to three decent places. Now they have added another, recently opened “Tanya Hugo”.

If you want to eat Asian food in an interior without national color, you are here. Portions, as is customary in Chinese restaurants, are decent. The main dish that has already become a Titoki trend last fall is Hugo, or “Chinese samovar”. Guests themselves can dip any ingredients they like from mushrooms and herbs to meat and seafood into boiling water with various additives.
