Getting into the festive swing of things with dishes like this ?
This super cheesy, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts orecchiette pasta bake was a cosy winter warmer I made earlier this week (did you catch my stories?).
I parboiled halved sprouts and smallish florets of the cauli in the same pan as the orecchiette for about 8mins (so the pasta was still very much al dente), drained it really well then tossed it through a luxurious cheese sauce. I then sprinkled on some more grated cheese, sea salt and pul biber (Turkish dried red pepper flakes – used here for colour and a hint of heat and warmth). Everything was baked in the in the oven (gas 6/200c) for a good half hour uncovered, until golden and bubbling.
We had it as a main with a couple of sausages and tomatoes – delish – but it would also work perfectly as a side dish to roast dinners or even as a Christmas dinner dish! Just leave out the pasta in place of some (panko) roasties. A version of this cheese sauce recipe is in my highlights! ?
