MEZZE PLATTER WITH HOMEMADE HALLOUMI + PITTA BREADS:
This is how we ate the homemade halloumi (see previous post) with homemade pitta breads and a couple of other dishes. My mum was taught the pitta technique from one of her Muslim sister friends, Nadia I believe (who isn’t on Instagram), so it’s a special one (swipe for a close up; recipe in stories/highlights – I really love the way they puff, go look!). We also had some yummy hummus (I think you just have to *have* hummus with these kinds of meals), alongside an effortless tomato sauce (made from those slow-roasted cherry tomatoes from the other day; let down with a little water, salt, black pepper and fresh oregano) and za’atar rubbed roasted aubergine, with a garlic/tahini drizzle dip (I’ll share those on a separate post because they are amazingly delicious). My weekend mission is complete – hopefully I’ve inspired you to give a couple of these a go for yourself ?
Mezze has to be one of my favourite kinds of foods. Has to be!!
