CHALLENGES OF MODERN FOOD

Malnutrition is associated with at least 50% of cases of cardiovascular diseases, about 40% of cases of lung cancer, colon and rectum, kidney, prostate, bladder in men and about 60% of cases of breast, uterus, kidney, intestinal cancer in women. In addition, the result of poor nutrition is obesity and a high risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus against this background.

The nutrition of a modern person, as, in general, everything in our life, has undergone significant changes.

The first group, that is, undoubtedly harmful, includes products containing genetically modified components, the uncontrolled consumption of which may have unpredictable consequences in the future, therefore, children should be protected from them in the first place.

The second group includes fast foods (fast food products), which, unfortunately, have become an integral part of the modern world. In our country, these products are also beginning to occupy a leading place in the nutrition of certain categories of the population, displacing centuries old traditions and familiar to everyone and, of course, healthier products. Fast foods include sandwiches, pies, buns, baked sausages, pizza, hot dogs and hamburgers, French fries, chips, noodles, and Roll-on instant mashed potatoes, and breakfast cereals (cereals, sticks, exploded flakes, curly corn products, dry grain tiles). All doctors and nutritionists consider them “harmful” products, dangerous for the health of adults and even more so for children, although it is for children that most of these products are bought. You can’t eat them regularly. This can lead to very bad consequences.

First, an excess of “fast” carbohydrates overloads the pancreas, leading to significant fluctuations in blood sugar levels, which are accompanied by unpleasant sensations: hunger, irritability, headache, decreased performance, etc. American scientists believe that 75% of Americans have these problems resulting from eating fast foods. Constant overloading of the pancreas can lead to the development of diabetes.

In addition, most of these foods are very high in calories, high in fat and low in vitamins, leading to a rapid increase in body weight with all the ensuing consequences. Some of these products (chips, roll tones and others) contain preservatives and a large amount of hidden salt, overloading the liver and kidneys, which should neutralize all this and remove it from the body.

There is very alarming information that as a result of the heat treatment of starches, substances are formed that are carcinogenic, and during the heat treatment of fats that are used in the preparation of fast foods, substances are formed that, acting on the brain, cause more than just addiction to them, and even the development of drug addiction.

In addition, it has been proven that the abuse of foods that contain a lot of fast carbohydrates changes metabolic processes in the body in such a way that, against this background, dependence on alcohol develops faster.

These problems are aggravated by the almost complete absence of vitamins and minerals in such food, which further impairs the work of the body’s enzyme system and contributes to the manifestation of all the above negative consequences of such food, and is also one of the main reasons for the development of hypovitaminosis and hypoelementosis, that is, a lack in the body , for example, calcium (which is accompanied by the development of osteoporosis and increased fragility of bones), iron (especially in pregnant women and young children, which is accompanied by the development of anemia), iodine (especially dangerous for children during the period of intensive development of the central nervous system, which leads to loss of a significant share of intellectual abilities), as well as fluorine, selenium, zinc.

Another violation in nutrition is reduced to the wrong food intake. As it turned out, the golden rule “Eat breakfast yourself, share lunch with a friend, and give dinner to the enemy” has a biological and physiological basis. As it turned out, all the enzyme systems of our body have their own biorhythm, according to which they are more active in the first half of the day. This applies to enzymes that break down proteins, as well as the processes of assimilation

If you seriously decide to take care of your health and strengthen the immune system, your favorite foods of beneficial microorganisms living in our intestines should become the basis of your diet. All vegetables are useful – they are rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals, contain pectin’s, buckwheat, millet, oats, wheat, yeast-free rye and bran bread are useful. Dairy products support healthy bacteria and promote their growth. It is healthier to bake potatoes. With this method of preparation, starch is perfectly digested and does not ferment, the entire supply of potassium is preserved, which stimulates intestinal motility and is indispensable for the work of the heart.

Do not forget about berries and fruits – they contain a large amount of enzymes for the digestion of food, organic acids, pigments, vitamins and minerals. Vegetable salads with vegetable oil and lemon juice are useful, which, among other things, have an excellent choleretic effect, and bile, in turn, is a natural intestinal antibiotic. Sunflower and pumpkin seeds, walnuts, cashews and other nuts are very useful. Do not forget also about fish, seafood and fish oil, which are an important source of polyunsaturated fatty acids and iodine, support the immune system and prevent the development of atherosclerosis.
